What is the Challenge?
The UULM Low Carbon Challenge is one of our Green Sanctuary Action Plan activities, in which we will respond to climate change at a household level. The goal is for Unitarian Universalists and friends in California to collectively lose one million pounds of carbon dioxide emissions by Earth Day 2009.
How will we achieve the goal?
We'll form “Carbon Rings”, each comprised of 5-8 UU households (non-UU friends welcome). The Carbon Rings will meet for eight sessions to share in guided discussion about global warming and then go on a “Low Carbon Diet”. The goal of the diet is to lose 5000 pounds of carbon dioxide emissions per household in 60 days. A study guide and workbook are required for this program. Carbon Rings will form in late August and early January.
